The Alan, Manchester


If you’re looking for a top-notch event venue in Manchester city centre, then The Alan could be exactly what you are after.

Plus, the hotel is currently doing its bit for the environment with a ‘Meet with Us, Grow with Nature: Team Up for a Greener Future’ initiative which includes room here, unlimited tea and coffee, snacks and buffet lunch and one tree is planted for every three delegates in partnership with Trees for Life.

All event spaces are equipped with wi-fi, PA systems and music speakers, projectors and flatscreen TVs and air conditioning.

And with in-house catering available, The Alan can prepare customisable packages to suit all budgets and event types.


Edgbaston Park


Edgbaston Park Hotel is celebrating after joining Innocent Drinks, Patagonia, and Tony’s Chocolonely - by achieving B Corp certification.

This recognises the hotel’s high standards in social and environmental impact, transparency, and accountability.

Only seven UK hotel groups hold this certification, which requires rigorous auditing and a legal commitment to balancing profit with purpose.

CEO Richard Metcalfe said:

“We’re thrilled to be recognised as a force for good. This reflects our team’s dedication to delivering excellent service while supporting our community and the planet. It’s the perfect way to top off a year of awards and achievements.”

But how has the venue managed it?

They are now ECOsmart and Green Tourism Gold certified, have reduced single-use plastics, improved energy efficiency and introduced CO₂e-rated menus. That’s as well as prioritising local, ethical suppliers.

The team are Hive Employee Voice Certified while staff get recognition for their efforts, as well as career development, plus they benefit from paid volunteering days.

Profits from the hotel support the University of Birmingham’s research and the Edgbaston Park also supports St Basils homeless charity and sponsors two beehives.

With strong female representation in leadership and a diverse, values-driven workforce, Chris Turner, of B Lab UK, added:
